Co-curricular Activities

These activities provide a channel for enhancing and extending lessons learned in the classroom. They offer the students the opportunity to apply academic skills in a real world context as part of our holistic educational programme. Club activities take place every Wednesday from 9.30am - 10.55am.

The following are the co-curricular activities provided by the secondary section of the school:
LITERARY & DEBATING/PRESS CLUB
Aims & Objectives:
i. To induce reading habit in students.
ii. To improve and encourage creative writing.
iii.To provide a significant training ground for the development of students' communicative abilities.
iv. To create learning situations which students develop proficiencies based on sound educational and communication theories.
v. To provide a platform for debating events.
vi. To encourage students become orators to display their intellectual and independent thinking skills and imbibe a sense of confidence.

JETS/MATHEMATICS
Objectives: Promoting Students Interest in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, and Technology.

HOME MAKERS/FASHION
Objectives:
i. To acquire skills in domestic crafts such as needle work, home decoration, clothing and textiles and home decoration.
ii. To learn hygiene practices and safety rules applicable in the home.
iii. To learn how to operate and care for simple home appliances.
iv. To know where, when and how a specific foods and drinks would be prepared (meal planning).
v. To be aware of the simple scientific and artistic implications to be considered regarding food preparation.

ENTREPRENEURS CLUB
Objectives:
To empower and encourage students to–
i. Create businesses. ii. Get involved in/with community development efforts
iii. Develop skills needed to succeed as entrepreneurs in a global society.
In a nut shell, this club will provide opportunities for networking, learning, and professional development experiences related to the field of entrepreneurship.

SPORTS/GAMES CLUBS
Objectives:
i. To use sports and games as a means of uniting the students and the school community.
ii. To ensure that students develop the spirit of sportsmanship, this will positively impact on their academic and social life.
iii. To educate students on how to channel their negative energy towards sports performance.
iv. To encourage female participation in sports.
v. To generally educate students on the need for regular participation in sports, this reduces chances of sedentary lifestyle amongst students.

GLEE
Objectives:
i. To provide every member with the opportunity to learn and develop a deeper understanding of music through performances, listening, activities, and trips.
ii. To improve song-writing skills and introduce production techniques.
iii. To make known the different music and dance movement in the world.
iv. To be able to know how a music and dance presentation is planned.
v. To be able to know how to make policy and regulate world to preserved culture and develop an analytical, creative, and intuitive understanding of music as a cultural language.

ICT/ROBOTIC
Objectives:
i. The Club focuses on extracting the hidden talent of the students in the field of Information Technology.
ii. To improve and enhance the technical skill set of the students by collaborating the club with leading Software Industries.

LEADERSHIP ACADEMY CLUB
This club encapsulates the vision of LBIS, training and equipping 21st Century Leaders. The club aims to achieve the following objectives:
1. To serve as a platform for the inculcation of the right leadership values.
2. To instill the spirit of self-reliance through practical teaching using resource persons from within and outside the school environment.
3. To highlight leadership issues within the country with the aim of engaging the students to proffer relevant solutions.
4. To collaborate with school management in her aim at instilling basic democratic values in young people.
5. To organise outdoor leadership programmes such as conferences, seminars, workshops and educational excursions, visits and trips.

DRAMA CLUB
The Drama Club targets talented and artistic students in the secondary and gives them a positive environment to showcase their skills. It is also an avenue to boost self-confidence as the members are expected to perform on the stage in front of an audience.

During club time, members spend time improvising, acting charades, rehearsing or watching movies to serve as models which will help them during their own performances.

SPORTS CLUB
The Sports Club provides activities which offer opportunities for students to learn the values of teamwork, individual and group responsibility, physical strength and endurance, healthy competition, acceptance of diversity and a sense of belonging to culture and community.

Physical exercise is good for the mind, body and spirit. Furthermore, team sports are good for dedication, and leadership among many other skills and values.

The benefits of participating in sportsis to help our students to stay in shape, teach them how to organise their time, boost friendships, and build relationships with peers and adults.

INTENSIVE SUPPORT PROGRAM (ISP)
This programme is organised to support learners to improve on their academic achievements. Teaching takes place with a maximum of fifteen students per group.

ORCHESTRA CLUB
In the Orchestra Club, students practise how to play different musical instruments as individuals and as a group. Our orchestra group consists of piano, violin, viola, guitar and saxophone. Other instruments are added according to students' interests and type of music being played.
